A series of sculptural icons to promote Torquay’s features and services were designed for sequential location along the highway approach. At around nine metres tall, the forms were designed to offer little wind resistance and viewing at speeds of 110 km per hour. A comprehensive hierarchy of wayfinding was also developed to guide visitors from the gateway to each of the destinations.
Unfortunately, government funding earmarked for this project was transferred to the highway beautification works. The signage now in place was redesigned and funded by a local surf business, in accordance with the information sequence and location strategy G4 Graphics identified as part of this project.
